Our Governors
Governors understand the school’s strengths and weaknesses. They have appropriate plans in place, including the use of external support to secure improvements.

GOVERNANCE INFORMATION
School governors are volunteers, drawn from different parts of the community, such as parents, school staff, the local authority, the Church and other groups. This helps to ensure that the Governing Board has a range of views and experience. The board is passionate about education and committed to continuous school improvement to ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils.
- Foundation governors are appointed by the Diocese of Southwark and the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of Christ Church Battersea.
- The Vicar of Christ Church Battersea is automatically a governor.
- Local Authority governors are appointed by the Governing Board and the appointment confirmed by the Local Authority (LA).
- Parent governors are elected by the school’s parents and carers.
- Staff governors are elected by the school’s staff other than the Headteacher whose place is automatic from start date in post unless a Headteacher declines it.
- Associate members are not governors, but may sit on committees of the Governing Body, and/or the full Governing Board, usually because they have specific skills.
The Governing Board is responsible for the strategic aims and objectives of the school. The Governors review, agree and monitor policies, targets and priorities, and hold the school to account for the financial management, performance and the quality of education provided.
The Governing Body consists of eight Foundation governors, three Parent governors, one Staff governor, one LA governor and the Headteacher. The full Governing Board usually meets four times a year.
Associate Members can also be appointed to provide specific skills or support not covered by existing full governors. Members of the Governing Board also serve on committees that monitor specific areas of the school’s work.
Members of the Governing Board also serve on committees that monitor specific areas of the school’s work:
- The Finance, Premises and Staffing (FPS)
- The Children Families and Community (CFC) committee
